简介:ObjectiveToreportutilityofMedporframeworksinauricularreconstructionandmanagementofframeworksprotrusion.MethodsRetrorespectivelyanalysisofclinicalinformationin31patientswhounderwentauricularreconstructionfromApril2000toOctober2002.ResultsAll31reconstructedauricleswereingoodconditionattwoweekspostoperatively.Frameworkprotrusionoccurredlaterin11patients.Theframeworkwasretainedin8ofthesecasesaftersecondaryrepair,buthadtoberemovedin3patients.In27patients,thereconstructedauriclewasratedasestheticallysuccesful.ConclusionMedporframeworkprotrusionislikelytooccurwhenskintensionishighwithminimalsofttissuecoverageovertheframeworkandcanresultfromimpactbystrongexternalforce.Despitetheconcernofprotrusion,Medporframeworkscanbeusedinplaceofautologouscartilaginousgraftinauricularreconstruction.
