Theadsorptionbehaviorofdyesonavarietyofsisalbasedactivatedcarbonfibers(SACF)hasbeenstudiedinthispaper.TheresultsshowthatthiskindofACFhasexcellentadsorptioncapacitiesforsomeorganic(dye)molecules.SACFcanremovenearlyallmethyleneblue,crystalviolet,bromophenolblueandEriochromeblueblackRfromwaterafterstaticadsorptionfor24h.at30℃.Theadsorptionamountscanreachmorethan400mg/gwhenadding50mgSACFinto50mldyesolution.Underthesameconditions,theadsorptionamountsofxylenolorangefluoresceinandEriochromeblackTwreelower.Ontheotherhand,theadsorptionamountschangealongwiththecharacteristicsofadsorbents.TheSACFsactivatedabove840℃,whichhavehigherspecificsurfaceareasandwiderporeradii,havehigheradsorptionamountsforthedyes.TheresearchingresultsalsoshowthattheadsorptionratesofdyesontoSACFsdecreasebytheorderofmethyleneblue,EriochromeblueblackRandcrystalviolet.
