简介:Wereportanindex-coupleddistributedfeedbackquantumcascadelaserbyemployinganequivalentphaseshift(EPS)ofquarter-waveintegratedwithadistributedBraggreflector(DBR)atλ~5.03μm.TheEPSisfabricatedthroughextendingonesamplingperiodby50%inthecenterofasampledBragggrating.ThekeyEPSandDBRpatternarefabricatedbyconventionalholographicexposurecombinedwiththeopticalphotolithographytechnology,whichleadstoimprovedflexibility,repeatability,andcost-effectiveness.Stablesingle-modeemissioncanbeobtainedbychangingtheinjectioncurrentorheatsinktemperatureevenundertheconditionoflargedrivingpulsewidth.
简介:Duetothelackofmodeselectioncapability,singlewhispering-gallery-mode(WGM)lasingisachallengetoachieve.Inbottlemicroresonators,thehighlynondegeneratedWGMsarespatiallywell-separatedalongthelong-axisdirectionandprovidemodeselectionaccordingtotheiraxialmodenumbers.Inthiswork,weusealoss-engineeringapproachtosuppressthehigher-orderWGMsanddemonstratesingle-modelasingemissioninsmallpolymerbottlemicroresonators.ThefibertapersarenotonlyusedtocouplepumplightintothebottlemicroresonatorstoexcitetheWGMsbutalsotobringopticallossesthatareinducedfromthediametermismatchbetweenfibertapersandmicroresonators.Byadjustingthecouplingpositions,thediametersoffibertapers,andthecouplingangles,singlefundamental-modelasingisefficientlygeneratedwithside-modesuppressionfactorsover15dB.Ourloss-engineeringapproachisconvenientjustbymovingthefibertaperandmayfindpromisingapplicationsinminiaturetunablesingle-modelasersandsensors.
简介:Inthisstudy,anelectro-mechanicalvalve(EMV)systemfortheintakevalveofafourstroke,singlecylinder,overheadvalveandsparkignition(SI)enginewasdesignedandconstructed.AnenginewiththeEMVsystemandastandardengineweretestedtoobservetheeffectsoftheEMVonengineperformanceandemissionsatdifferentspeedsunderfullload.TheEMVengineshowedimprovedenginepower,enginetorqueandbreakspecificfuelconsumption(BSFC).A66%decreaseinCOemissionswasalsoobtainedwiththeEMVsystem,buthydrocarbons(HC)andNOxemissionsincreasedby12%and13%respectively.

简介:Wepresentacontinuous-wavesingly-resonantopticalparametricoscillatorwith1.5%outputcouplingoftheresonantsignalwave,basedonanangle-polishedMgO-dopedperiodicallypoledlithiumniobate(MgO:PPLN),pumpedbyacommercialNd:YVO4laserat1064nm.Theoutput-coupledopticalparametricoscillatordeliversamaximumtotaloutputpowerof4.19Wwith42.8%extractionefficiency,acrossatuningrangeof1717nminthenear-andmid-infraredregion.Thisindicatesimprovementsof1.87Winoutputpower,19.1%inextractionefficiencyand213nmintuningrangeextensionincomparisonwiththeopticalparametricoscillatorwithnooutputcoupling,whileattheexpenseofincreasingtheoscillationthresholdbyafactorof~2.Moreover,itisconfirmedthatthefiniteoutputcouplingalsocontributestothereductionofthethermaleffectsincrystal.

简介:Inthispaper,weproposeahighlyautomaticapproachfor3Dphotorealisticfacereconstructionfromasinglefrontalimage.Thekeypointofourworkistheimplementationofadaptivemanifoldlearningapproach.Beforehand,anactiveappearancemodel(AAM)istrainedforautomaticfeatureextractionandadaptivelocallylinearembedding(ALLE)algorithmisutilizedtoreducethedimensionalityofthe3Ddatabase.Then,givenaninputfrontalfaceimage,thecorrespondingweightsbetween3DsamplesandtheimagearesynthesizedadaptivelyaccordingtotheAAMselectedfacialfeatures.Finally,geometryreconstructionisachievedbylinearweightedcombinationofadaptivelyselectedsamples.Radialbasisfunction(RBF)isadoptedtomapfacialtexturefromthefrontalimagetothereconstructedfacegeometry.Thetextureofinvisibleregionsbetweenthefaceandtheearsisinterpolatedbysamplingfromthefrontalimage.Thisapproachhasseveraladvantages:(1)Onlyasinglefrontalfaceimageisneededforhighlyautomaticfacereconstruction;(2)Comparedwithformerworks,ourreconstructionapproachprovideshigheraccuracy;(3)ConstraintbasedRBFtexturemappingprovidesnaturalappearanceforreconstructedface.
简介:Atunablesingle-passbandmicrowavephotonicfilterisproposedanddemonstrated,basedonalaserdiode(LD)arraywithmultipleopticalcarriersandaFabry-Perot(F-P)laserdiode.MultipleopticalcarriersinconjunctionwiththeF-PLDwillrealizeafilterwithmultiplepassbands.Byadjustingthewavelengthsofthemultipleopticalcarriers,multiplepassbandsaremergedintoasinglepassbandwithabroadenedbandwidth.Byvaryingthenumberoftheopticalcarrier,thebandwidthcanbeadjusted.Thecentralfrequencycanbetunedbyadjustingthewavelengthofthemultipleopticalcarrierssimultaneously.Asingle-passbandfilterimplementedbytwoopticalcarriersisexperimentallydemonstrated.
