TectonicallytheDabieorogenicbeltconsistsmainlyoftheDabieshanYanshanianupliftedzoneandtheBeihuaiyangVariscan-Indosinianfoldingzone.InthenorthboundaryadjoiningtheNorthChinaBlock,thereareanEarlyPalaeozoicophioliticmixtitebeltandtheHefeiMesozoic-Cenozoicfaultedbasinwhichoverlapsonthesuturebelt.InthesouthofDabieorogen,thereisasecondarytectonicunitcalledForelandthrust-faultedstructuralzonewhichwasmainlyformedbytheintracontinentalsubductionsduringMesozoicera.ThestudyshowsthattheDabieBlockisapartofmid-lateProterozoicpalaeo-islandarcatthenorthmarginofYangtzeBlock.DuringCaledonianperiod,asasubmergedupliftatthenorthencontinentalmarginofYangtzeBlock,theDabieBlockcollidedwiththeearlyPalaeozoicpalaeo-islandarcatthesouthmarginofNorthChinaBlock,resultingintheconvergenceoftheNorthandSouthChinaBlocksandthedisappearanceofoceaniccrust.Sincethen,large-scaleintracontinentalsubductionswerefollowed.DabieOrogenicBeltistheproductofoverlappingofYangtzeBlock,DabieBlockandNorthChinaBlockunderthemechanismofintracontinentalsubduction.IndosinianperiodistheperiodofchiefdeformationandhighpressuredynamicmetamorphismforDabieBlock,andYanshanperiodisthemainorogenicperiodinwhichtheremeltingofcrustcausedbybasementshearingresultedinlargescalethermometamorphism.ThepresenttectonicframeworkoftheorogenwasfinallyformedbytherapidupliftingoftheDabieshanmountainsandglidingsouthwards,whichresultinthedevelopingofthrustbeltonsouthsideandtheextensionaltectonicmovementonnorthside.
