Subjective:Toobservethetherapeuticeffectofacupunctureintreatmentofacuteperipheralfacialparalysis.Methods:Atotalof80casesoffacialpalsywererandomlypidedintoacupuncturegroup(n=50)andWesternmedicine(control)group(n=30).Inacupuncturegroup,Cuanzhu(BL2),Sibai(ST2),Yangbai(GB14),etc.werepunctured,combinedwithTDPradiation,cuppingoradministrationofChinesemedicinalherbsaccordingtotheconcretesituations.Acupuncturetreatmentwasgivenoncedaily,with6daysbeingatherapeuticcourse,continuouslyfor4courses.Incontrolgroup,patientsweretreatedwithintravenousinjectionof"energymixture",dexamethasone,compoundDansheninjectio,etc..Results:Aftertreatment,inacupuncturegroup,ofthe50cases,48werecuredand2hadimprovement,withtheeffectiveratebeing100%;amongthem,12caseswerecuredin7days,23curedin8～14days,10curedin15～21daysand3curedin22～28days.Incontrolgroup,ofthe30cases,19werecured,8hadimprovementand3hadnoapparentchanges,withtheeffectiveratebeing90%.Ofthe19curedcases,5werecuredwithin8～14days,10curedin15-21daysand4curedin22～28days.Conclusion:Intreatmentofacuteperipheryfacialpalsy,acupunctureisobviouslysuperiortoWesternmedicinesinthetherapeuticeffectandcureduration.
