WelcometoSilkRoadTour.MynameisSevenXu,oneofthelittletourguideshere.Today,IwouldliketoshowyouatypicalbuildinginYuanDynastywhichisLiushengPagoda.Andyoucanlearnaboutthisculturalrelicfromitsshape,legend,toitsfunctionthroughtheeyesofme—anative-borncitizenhere.

Youcansee,thishistoricalandreligiouspagodalocatesonChaiMoutainintheShihuVillageofShishi,QuanzhouCityandstandsattheentranceoftheQuanzhousea.Itis36.06metershigh,and47meterswideatthebottom.Itisafive-storeybuildingwitheightupwardangles.Also,therearevariousBuddhasculpturescarvedontheeavesandouterwallsofthetower.Youknow,mostChinesebelieveinBuddismandpraytotheBuddhaforlongevity.

It’ssaidthatthispagodawascarriedoutbythemonks,SongShenandZuhuiinNorthernSongDynasty,andgotrepairedinYuanDynasty.TherewasalegendofLiushengPogoda.It’srumoredthattwomonstersintheancientShihuvillagekeptmakingtroubles,whichmadepeopleinthisareapanicandboatmendarednotgopast.Sincethat,theMonkZuHuiandSongShenaskedMazugoddessforhelptobringthemundercontrolandthenbuiltLiushengPagoda.Therewasalegendrecordingthatinordertohelptheboatssailsafelyatnight,LvDongbin,averyfamousgodinChinesetaoismgodsystem,borrowedanightpearlfromtheKingoftheSeaandplaceditonthetopofthepagoda.Therefore,thelighthousewouldsendoutlightfromfaraway.

Inancienttimes，thereweretwotownsatthefootofChaiMoutain.TheyareShihuandHanjiang.Thesetwotownswereimportantharborswhichwitnessedtheprosperityofoverseastransportation.Accordingtohistoricalrecord,therewere18ferrieshereatthattime,andtherewerehundredsofforeignshipsfloatingintheharbor.AndthisisduetothefactthatthepagodahadthefunctionofnavigationanditwasregardedasthefirstlighthouseofMaritimeSilkRoadnavigatingZhenghe’svoyagestothewestandpromotingthecontactsacrossthechannel.AtthebeginningoftheQingDynasty,itbecamethecentraldockbetweenthemainlandandTaiwan.Asyouascendslowlytothetop,youcanseethevaststraitandthenumerousshipsmovingbackandforth.Byfar,ShihuWharfhasbeenbuiltasamodern10,000-tonwharf,aswellasthelargestporttoimportstonesinChina.Throughout800years,LiushengPagodastillstandslikeagiantatthetopofChaiMountainandwitnessestheprosperityandchangesofthisport.

Finally,Iwouldliketoaddthatbesidesthispagoda,therearetwomorerelics-----LinluanFerryandGusaoPagodawhichareknownasthreetreasuresinmyhometown,aswellasmanyotherhistoricinterestsinthisamazingland.Quanzhoukeepscreatingmiraclesallthetime.Inthenewera,weshouldworktogethertoprotectthehistoricalandculturalheritage,promotethespiritofsustainabledevelopment,andletthenextgenerationfeelaboutourdeterminationofcultureprotectionundertheappealof“TheBeltandRoad”.Anddon'tforgettocomeandvisittheplacesofinterestsinQuanzhou,whichhasalonghistory,arichcultureandatypicalstyleofMaritimeSilkRoad.Trustme.Itwouldneverletyoudown.
