Dempster-Shaferevidencetheory(DStheory)iswidelyusedinbrainmagneticresonanceimaging(MRI)segmentation,duetoitsefficientcombinationoftheevidencefromdifferentsources.Inthispaper,animprovedMRIsegmentationmethod,whichisbasedonfuzzyc-means(FCM)andDStheory,isproposed.Firstly,theaveragefusionmethodisusedtoreducetheuncertaintyandtheconflictinformationinthepictures.Then,theneighborhoodinformationandthedifferentinfluencesofspatiallocationofneighborhoodpixelsaretakenintoconsiderationtohandlethespatialinformation.Finally,thesegmentationandthesensordatafusionareachievedbyusingtheDStheory.ThesimulatedimagesandtheMRIimagesillustratethatourproposedmethodismoreeffectiveinimagesegmentation.
