Recentextensivemeasurementsofreal-lifetrafficdemonstratethattheprobabilitydensityfunctionofthetrafficinnon-Gaussian.Ifatrafficmodeldoesnotcapturethischaracteristics,anyanalyticalorsimulationresultswillnotbeaccurate.Inthiswork,westudytheimpactofnon-Gaussiantrafficonnetworkperformance,andpresentanapproachthatcanaccuratelymodelthemarginaldistributionofreal-lifetraffic.Boththelong-andshort-rangeautocorrelationsarealsoaccounted.Weshowthattheremovalofnon-Gaussiancomponentsoftheprocessdoesnotchangeitscorrelationstructure,andwevalidateourpromisingprocedurebysimulations.
