Therearefewstudiesontheneuroprotectiveeffectsofsyringaldehydeinaratmodelofcerebralischemia.Thestudyaimedtoelucidatethemechanismsunderlyingtheneuroprotectiveeffectsofsyringaldehydeonischemicbraincells.Ratmodelsofcerebralischemiawereintraperitoneallyadministeredsyringaldehyde.At6and24hoursaftersyringaldehydeadministration,celldamageinthebrainofcerebralischemiaratswasobviouslyreduced,superoxidedismutaseactivityandnuclearrespiratoryfactor1expressioninthebraintissueweremarkedlyincreased,malondiadehydelevelwasobviouslydecreased,apoptosis-relatedcysteinepeptidasecaspase-3and-9immunoreactivitywasobviouslydecreased,andneurologicalfunctionwasmarkedlyimproved.Thesefindingssuggestthatsyringaldehydeexertsneuroprotectiveeffectsoncerebralischemiainjurythroughanti-oxidationandanti-apoptosis.
