ObjectivePatientswithunilateraleardischargeandhearinglossoftenhaveexternalormiddleeardiseases.Wepresenta55-year-oldmanwhosufferedfrompersistenteardischargeandhearinglossintheleftear.Localfindingsshowedthathisleftearcanalwasfilledwithalargeamountofgranulationtissue,withpurulent,foul-smellingdischarge.Computedtomographyindicatedleftmiddleearcholesteatomaandmassshadowintheleftexternalauditorycanal.Modifiedradicalmastoidectomywasperformed.Apieceofwhiteplasticstickwasfoundinthemiddleearduringtheoperation.Foreignbody-inducedcholesteatomaandexternalauditorycanalgranulomainadultsareveryrare.Wepresentthisrarecasesothattheseconditionscanbebetterrecognizedandunderstood.
