CreativityandinnovationinEnglishlanguageteaching(ELT)arefrequentlydiscussedanddebated.RecentlytheMinistryofEducation(MOE)ofChinahasurgedthedevelopmentofasystem,whichen-hancescreativeabilityinstudentsatalllevels.Hawaii’sEast-WestCenterincollaborationwiththeOhanaFoundationimplementedaneducationalre-searchactivitydesignedtoassessthecurrentneedsandbestpracticesforEnglishlanguageteachingandlearn-ingatthemiddleschoollevelinChina.TheprojectfocusedonincreasingcreativityandinnovationinEnglishlanguageeducationandusedcasestudiesofsuccessfulEnglishlanguageteaching/learningastheunitofanalysis.ResearchersfrombothChinaandtheUnitedStateswereinvolvedwiththeanalysisandmaderec-ommendationsforimplementinginnovativeapproach-estoEnglishlanguageinstructionandonhowtoin-creasecreativityinteachertraining,curriculumde-velopment,andtheuseofappropriatetechnology.
