摘要
Thispaperstudiestherelationshipbetweentwoprincipaltoolsfortheanalysisofnetworktraffic,namely,effectivebandwidthandnetworkcalculus.Itisshownthatageneralformulationofeffectivebandwidthcanbeexpressedwithintheframeworkofaprobabilisticversionofthenetworkcalculus,wherebotharrivalsandservicearespecifiedintermsofprobabilisticbounds.Aggregateschedulingwithstatisticalserviceassurancesbasedonstatisticalnetworkcalculusispresentedbystrongeffectiveenvelopefunction,insteadofcommonlyusedeffectiveenvelopetoobtainboundsontheamountoftrafficonalink,theproposedschemecanovercometheoverestimationofthenumberofadmittedflows,whichmakesitsuperiortothepreviousschemeespeciallywhenimplementingcalladmissioncontrol.
