简介：AIM:Todeterminethenormativevaluesofwhite-towhitecornealdiameterwithOrbscanIITopographySystemandtocomparerightandlefteyesdatainthenormalyoungpopulation.METHODS:Atotalof1001healthyparticipantsaged18-45yparticipatedinthisobservationalcross-sectionalstudy.Thestudypopulationconsistedof616femaleand385malesubjects.ThecornealdiameterwasmeasuredwiththeOrbscanII.Thedifferencesbetweengenders,betweenrightandlefteyesandage-relatedchangeswereevaluated.StatisticalanalyseswereperformedusingStudent’st-test.RESULTS:Theaveragewhite-to-whitedistanceinourstudypopulationwasrecordedas11.65±0.36mm(median:11.60mm,mode:11.70mm,minimum:10.50mmandmaximum:13.60mm).Thewhite-to-whitedistancewas11.60±0.35mminmalesand11.71±0.36mminfemaleswhichwasstatisticallydifferentbetweengenders(P<0.01).However,white-to-whitedistancewasnotstatisticallydifferentbetweenrightandlefteyes.Inaddition,thisparameterdecreasedwithincreasingage.Considering95%confidenceinterval,cornealdiameterlessthan10.93mmandgreaterthan12.34mmwouldbeconsideredasmicrocorneaandmegalocornea,respectivelybasedonthisstudypopulation,usingtheOrbscanIItopography.CONCLUSION:DetaileddescriptionandanalysisofcornealdiameterwithOrbscandemonstratethattheobtainedaveragevalueofhorizontalwhite-to-whiteishigherinmalethanfemaleanddecreasesslightlywithincreasingage.Ourdataalsosuggeststhecutoffvaluesfordefinitionofmicrocorneaandmegalocornea,whichcanbeemployedwiththispopulation.

简介：AIM:Todefinetheultrasonographicstructureofnormallowereyelidanatomiccompartmentsandtheirspacialrelationshipindynamicmotion.METHODS:Highresolutionultrasound(15MHz)wasperformedonthelowereyelidsof7normalsubjects.Movementsofthelowereyelidanditscompartmentswerevisualizedwithultrasound.Inaddition,themaximalexcursionareaofthelowereyelidfatcompartmentsandretractormotionswasmeasuredbeforeandaftermotion.RESULTS:Theorbicularismusclecouldbeseenasanecholucentstructurebetweenthedermisandtheechodencefatpads.Lowereyelidfatpadseemstobedividedinto2compartmentsasrangeofmotionanddirectionofmovementofeachofthemvaries.Itseemsthatthesecompartmentshavealsodifferentbehavior.Themeasuredprofileareaofthevisiblenormallowereyelidfatpadsduringmovementofglobefromup-gazetodown-gazedecreasedby50%.Orderofmovementoflowereyelidstructuresseemstobeasfollows:afterglobemovementfistweseeretractormovement,anteriororbitalfatpad,thenskinandseptum,andfinallymovementofinferiorfatpad.CONCLUSION:Ultrasoundrepresentsanoninvasivetoolforthevisualizationoflowereyelidmorphology.Expandingitsapplicationcouldhelpusunderstandthecompartmentalchangesinphysiologicaleyelidmovement,inaginganddiseasedstudypopulations,aswellasassessoperativeoutcomes.

简介：目的：观察早期衰老大鼠视网膜色素上皮-光感受器细胞复合体超微结构的变化。方法：取3月龄及12月龄大鼠视网膜,制成半薄切片,透射电镜下观察视网膜色素上皮-光感受器细胞复合体超微结构的变化。结果：12月龄大鼠视网膜中出现视网膜色素上皮细胞（retinalpigmentepithelium,RPE）凋亡和RPE-光感受器细胞复合体的退行性改变。结论：视网膜色素上皮-光感受器细胞复合体的退行性改变是视网膜衰老的早期表现。
