Coseismic vertical deformation of the Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake from repeated levelings and its constraint on listric fault geometry

摘要 ThedevastatingMS8.0WenchuanearthquakerupturedtwolargeparallelthrustfaultsalongthemiddlesegmentoftheLongmenshanthrustbelt.PreseismicandpostseismiclevelingdataindicatedthehangingwalloftheYingxiuBeichuan-NanbathrustfaultmainlypresentedcoseismicupliftwithrespecttothereferencepointatPingwucountytown,andtheobservedmaximumupliftof4.7mislocatedatBeichuancounty(Qushantown)whichisabout100mwestofthefaultscarp.ThefootwalloftheYingxiu-Beichuan-Nanbathrustfaultmainlyshowedsubsidencewithmaximumsubsidenceof0.6mneartherupture.Byemployingalistricdislocationmodel,wefoundthatthefaultgeometrymodelofexponentialdipangleδ=88°×[1-exp(-9/h)]withdepthof18kmanduniformthrust-slipof5.6mcouldfittheobservedcoseismicverticaldeformationverywell,whichverifiesthelistricthrustmodeloftheLongmenshanorogeniczone.
