Effect of Process Parameters on Tensile Strength of Friction Stir Welded Cast LM6 Aluminium Alloy Joints

摘要 Thispaperreportstheeffectoffrictionstirwelding(FSW)processparametersontensilestrengthofcastLM6aluminiumalloy.Jointsweremadebyusingdierentcombinationsoftoolrotationspeed,weldingspeedandaxialforceeachatfourlevels.Thequalityofweldzonewasinvestigatedusingmacrostructureandmicrostructureanalysis.Tensilestrengthofthejointswereevaluatedandcorrelatedwiththeweldzonehardnessandmicrostructure.Thejointfabricatedusingarotationalspeedof900r/min,aweldingspeedof75mm/minandanaxialforceof3kNshowedsuperiortensilestrengthcomparedwithotherjoints.Thetensilestrengthandmicrohardnessoftheweldedjointsfortheoptimumconditionswere166MPaand64.8Hvrespectively.
