Inthispaper,thelocationparameterδαinWeibulldistributioni.e.thelowerlimitingCTODtoughnessofhighstreengthsteelweldmentsisevalvated.formGleelesimulatedcoarsegrainedspecimens.TheCharpy-Vtransitiontem-peratureobtainedfromthesespecimensistransformedtoafracturetoughnessKICvalueatagiventemperatureusingSanz’relation.Then,thelocationparameterδαisevaluated.ThepredictedlocationparameterarrivesatagreementwiththelowestCTODvalueasobtainedfromthickmultilayerweldments.TheimprovementofthefracturetoughnessofmultilayerweldmentsneedstheincreaseoftheloweringlimitingCTOD.toughnessi.e.thetoughnessofthecoaregrainedzone.
