Roles of HIV-1 auxiliary proteins in viral pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions

摘要 Activehost-pathogeninteractionstakeplaceduringinfectionofhumanimmunodeficiencyvirustype1(HIV-1).Outcomesoftheseinteractionsdeterminetheefficiencyofviralinfectionandsubsequentdiseaseprogression.HIV-infectedcellsrespondtoviralinvasionwithvariousdefensivestrategiessuchasinnate,cellularandhumoralimmuneantiviralmechanisms.Ontheotherhand,thevirushasalsodevelopedvariousoffensivetacticstosuppressthesehostcellularresponses.Amongmanyoftheviraloffensivestrategies,HIV-1viralauxiliaryproteins(Tat,Rev,Nef,Vif,VprandVpu)playimportantrolesinthehost-pathogeninteractionandthushavesignificantimpactsontheoutcomeofHIVinfection.OneofthebestexamplesistheinteractionofVifwithahostcytidinedeaminaseAPOBEC3G.AlthoughspecificrolesofotherauxiliaryproteinsarenotaswelldescribedasVif-APOBEC3Ginteraction,itisthegoalofthisbriefreviewtosummarizesomeofthepreliminaryfindingswiththehopetostimulatefurtherdiscussionandinvestigationinthisexhilaratingareaofresearch.
