Finite element investigation of steel built-up shear links subjected to inelastic deformations

摘要 Non-linearfiniteelementmodelsaccountingforlargedisplacementshavebeenusedtoinvestigatethebehaviorofsteelbuilt-upshearlinksthathadpreviouslybeentestedusinglarge-scaleexperiments.Thelinksweredesignedusingstcclgradeswithyieldpointsrangingfromhightolowstrengths.Theobjectivesofthcnumericalanalysesweretofurtherinvestigatethenon-linearbehaviorandtocorrelatethenumericalresultswithexperimentalobservations.Elasto-plasticaswellascyclicstress-strainmaterialpropertieswereincorporatedtostudytheinfluenceofmaterialbehaviorontheoverallshearlinkresponse.Non-linearmonotonicanalysesoftheshearlinksincorporatingthecyclicstress-strainsteelpropertiesresultedinsimilartrendsintheresponseasthebackbonecurvesrecordedfromthephysicalexperiments.Thenumericalmodelsofbuilt-upshearlinksutilizingstructuralgradesteelscloselycorrelatedtotheexperimentallyrecordedshearstrength.Modelsutilizinglowyieldpointsteelsoverestimatedtheshearstrength,whichwascausedbythecharacteristicsofcyclicbehaviorofthosesteels.Thedetailednumericalmodelsalsoallowedforinvestigationoftheplasticstraindemandsonthedifferentcomponentsofthelink.Itwasshownthatfiniteelementmodelscombinedwithappropriatestress-strainrelationshipmaybeusedwithconfidencetocheckthedesignofshearlinksofdifferentsteelgradesandsectionalgeometries.
