摘要
Wepresentanovelandsimplemethodtoobtainanultrawidefreespectralrange(FSR)siliconringresonatortogetherwithatuningrangecoveringtheentirespectrumfrom1500to1600nm.AringresonatorwithalargeFSRtogetherwithahighQfactor,hightuningefficiency,andlowfabricationcostandcomplexityisdesiredformanyapplications.Inthispaper,weintroduceanovelwaytomakesucharingresonator,whichtakesadvantageofthewell-knownresonance-splittingphenomenon.ItisasingleringresonatorwithanFSRofmorethan150nmaround1550nmandwhichhasaneasythermo-optictunabilitythatcanproduceatuningrangearound90nmorevenmore.Moreover,thedeviceissimpletoimplementandcanbefabricatedinstandardcomplementarymetal-oxidesemiconductortechnologywithoutrequiringanykindofcomplicatedprocessingorextramaterials.Thepotentialapplicationsincludesinglemodelasercavities,wavelengthdivisionmultiplexingfilters,(de)multiplexers,opticalsensors,andintegratedreflectors.
