Controlling the size of fragrance microcapsules using designed agitator paddles: Experiment and CFD simulation

摘要 ControllingthesizeoffragraneemicrocapsulesusingdesignedagitatorpaddleswasinvestigatedandstudiedbyCFDsimulation.First,differentfluidflowswereestablishedbyvaryingstirringspeeds,reactorscales,andagitatorpaddledesign,andtheeffectsofeachonparticlesizeanddistributionofpreparedmicrocapsulesweredetermined.Theexperimentalresultsshowedthatthepatterndesignoforificesintheplatepaddlescontroltheflowfieldwell.Narrowparticle-sizedistributionsofthemicrocapsuleswereobtained.Thefluidflowcharacteristicsincludingfluidvelocityfield,turbulentkineticenergyfield,andshearstressdistributionforthedifferentagitatorpaddletypesindifferentreactionkettlesweresimulatedusingCFDtechnology.Thecorrelationsbetweensimulateddataandexperimentalresultswereanalyzed.Significantly,thesimulatedaverageflowvelocitywasfoundtoshowgoodnegativelinearcorrelationw让htheaverageparticlesizeofpreparedmicrocapsules,withacorrelationofy=-2.166x+42.626.
