摘要 Aprincipalchallengeinsupportingreal-timevideoservicesoverATMistheneedtoprovidesynchronousplay-outinthefaceofstochasticend-to-endnetworkdelays.Inthispaper,anintelligenttrafficsmoothmechanism(ITAM)isproposedtomeetthecontinuityrequirementwhichiscomposedofaback-propagationneuralnetwork(BPNN)trafficpredictoraplay-outbuffer,andafuzzyneuralnetwork(FNN)basedplay-outratedeterminator.TheBPNNtrafficpredictoronlinepredictsthemeanpacketrateofthetrafficinthefutureinterval(FI)andtheFNNisdesignedtoadaptivelydeterminatetheplay-outtimeaccordingtothenumberofpacketsinthebufferandthetrafficcharacterpredicted.Simulationresultsshothatcomparedtothewindowmechanism,ITSMachieveshighcontinuitywithaccepteddelay.Furthermore,ITSMcanbeadaptivelymodifiedtomeettheQoSofdifferentkindsofservicesbyFNNparametertraining.
