摘要 TherearenotabledifferencesintheincidenceandmortalityratesforprostatecancerbetweenAsiaandWesterncountries.Itisalsorecognizedthattherearedifferencesinthinkingwithregardtotreatmentoptions.RecentlyitisalsothecasethatopinionshavebeenreportedconcerningthedifferencesbetweenAsianandWesternpatientswithregardtotheirreactiontoandrogendepletiontherapy(ADT).GiventhatADTisamethodoftreatmentthatfocusesontheeliminationoftestosterone,aninevitablesymptomofitsadministrationistestosteronelosingsyndrome.ItisforthisreasonthatinWesterncountriesADThasonlybeenrecommendedincasesofadvancedormetastaticcancer.Ontheotherhand,inAsia,ADTisusedinrelativelymanycases,includingnon-metastaticlocalizedcancerandinvasivelocalizedcancer.Todate,however,therehasbeenlittlesubstantivediscussionconcerningthisdifferenceinutilizationofADT.ADT-relateddrugsforprostatecancerandthedevelopmentofnewdrugsforcastrationresistantprostatecancer(CRPC)havebeenactivelytestedinrecentyears.ItcouldbethecasethatanalyzingthedifferencesinconceptsaboutADTbetweenAsiaandtheWestcouldcontributetotheeffectiveuseofADT-relateddrugsandalsohelptobuildnewtreatmentstrategiesforprostatecancer.
